A Yangon-based guerrilla group told Myanmar Now that some insiders from the military are secretly assisting them in their attacks on military targets. In addition to the 18 June bombing of a military truck in Tamwe Township, they received support from some soldiers and officers for their attacks on the Home Affairs Office on 27 March and the military truck in Mingalardon Township on 1 June, the group said. Some soldiers do not participate in the CDM for the safety of their families, but they are helping people fighting the junta troops. Since the coup on 1 February, many confidential office letters were also leaked to the media through non-CDM civil servants.
On 19 June night, the junta troops raided a house in Kalay, Sagaing Region, and killed four members of the family, Myanmar Now reported. According to eyewitnesses, all the valuables inside the house were taken away. Khit Thit reports that Kyaw Kyaw Myo, the groom, was shot dead by the junta troop while distributing his wedding invitations on 20 June in Sintku Township, Mandalay Region. His friend was also arrested and beaten. Maung Phoe Sein, 13, was shot dead in Yangon’s Bahan Township on 19 June.
The PDF-Zoland camp in Tedim Township, Chin State, was attacked for the second time by the Zomi Re-unification Organization (ZRO/ZRA) on 16 June, burning about 200 lakhs worth of food and medicine. The action has been heavily criticized by many netizens, saying they should not launch attack on same ethnicity and destroyed foods and medicines as there are thousands of displaced civilians facing food shortage in Chin State. The Chinland Defense Force issued a statement on 19 June condemning the ZRA's actions and saying it would retaliate strongly if they did not stop attacking.
The CDF-Mindat and the junta troops will hold a 14-day ceasefire from today in Mindat Township, where fighting has intensified and about 10,000 civilians have displaced, according to Chin World. The junta has said it will make sure people can return to their homes during the ceasefire, but checks are being tightened at the entrance to the town. According to CCTV footage, the bombers of the Yangong’s Nga Moe Yeik Ward Administration Office were identified as two women who had come to report the list of guest registration, the junta said.
In Karen’s Hpa-an Township, the controlled area of the KNU Brigade 1, four clashes broke out between the KNU and the junta troops, killing eight and wounding four of the junta members, according to Thoolei News. In Kunlong, northern Shan State, fighting also broke out between the TNLA and MNDAA joint force and the junta troops on 20 June 20, killing three members of the junta and seizing some of their ammunition, according to Shwe Phee Myay News.
Coup leader Min Aung Hlaing left for Russia today on a special flight to attend an international security conference, the Irrawaddy reported. This is his second foreign trip since the coup. The visit comes amid rising international calls for a global arms embargo.
