ASEAN Special Envoy to Myanmar Erywan Yusof will visit Myanmar tomorrow for the first time since his appointment in August, according to multiple news reports. He is scheduled to arrive today, but the trip was reportedly postponed as he is only allowed to meet with eight pro-junta political parties in Naypyidaw. The junta previously refused his proposal to meet with Aung San Suu Kyi. It is still unclear whether he can meet with her or other NLD officials during his trip.

President Win Myint testified in Naypyidaw’s court today that two top generals forced him to resign on the morning of 1 February for health reasons and threatened him he would be in danger if he refused, his lawyer told DVB. The Chin Human Rights Organization reported on 10 October that the personal assistant and driver of Deputy Commander of the Northwest Military Regional Command based in Hakha, Chin State, had defected. According to them, family members, including wives, of junta’s troops have been armed and the troops are facing low morale and insubordination.

Junta’s spokesperson told VOM that the weapons seized by its troops in the Ayeyarwaddy Region were transported from the KNU Brigade 6 controlled area. He also claimed that the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) probably involves as these weapons include Turkish-made MK 12 rifles that are hard to find in black market.

Four people, including two protest leaders, Ye Tun Tauk and Khin Maung Zaw, from Yangon’s Hlaingthayar Township, were sentenced to life imprisonment by the military tribunal in Insein Prison on 6 October, sources close to their familites told Burma VJ. The junta has again issued a curfew in 31 townships in Yangon from 10 pm to 4 am, banning gatherings of five or more people in public places.

The YDF-Htee Lin announced that its members ambushed Pyu Saw Htee militia near Htee Lin, Magway Region, and confiscated 20 firearms. A convoy of 55 military truck and armoured vehicles have arrived in Falam, Chin State, some locals wrote on their social media. Families of high-ranking junta officers have been evacuated from Kalay, Sagaing Region, on military planes since 11 October, causing fear among locals as the evacuation happened after the massive troop deployment in the region.

The junta's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement strongly condemning governments and parliamentarians who are meeting with the NUG/CRPH representatives and countries authorizing NUG representative offices, accusing them of supporting terrorist activities. To date, NUG opened its offices in six countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, France, the Czech Republic, and South Korea.
