Many foreign factories would leave Myanmar by the end of May due to the large impact on trade and manufacturing cost, DVB reported. China, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Japan are the largest investors in the country’s industrial zones. Hundreds of thousands of Myanmar workers will be laid off as these investors are preparing to relocate to Cambodia, Vietnam and Bangladesh. Three former National League for Democracy (NLD) ministers have also been charged in connection with the case.

The party chairman told Myanmar Now that the Arakan National Party (ANP) is now considering suspending its cooperation with the military council due to non-compliance with their demands. The ANP has been widely criticized for accepting positions at the military council after the coup.
A KNU official told the Karen Information Center that 194 soldiers, including the rank of colonel of the military council, were killed and 220 wounded in 407 clashes that began on March 27 in Hpapun Township, KNU Brigade 5 controlled area. On the KNU side, nine soldiers were killed and 10 wounded, and artillery and airstrikes killed 14 civilians and wounded 28 others. The joint force of TNLA and MNDAA killed more than 30 junta troops, including a captain from the 9th Infantry Battalion, and seized several weapons in clashes on May 5 in Kutkai Township, northern Shan State. The MNDAA later released photos on social media. Fighting between the KIA and the junta troops in Bhamo District, Kachin State, has killed at least 30 junta members and wounded more than 80 others, according to Khit Thit Media. Causalties from the KIA is still unknown.
According to Khit Thit Media, fighting between the People's Defence Forces and the Military Council has resumed in Kani Township, Sagaing Division. Many soldiers died and many are being treated at Kani public hospital, locals said. Chin World reported that 112 CDM civil servants at the Chin State Fire Department have been fired today. Yesterday, the military council forced the reopening of universities for the postgraduate and final year of undergraduate, but more than 90 percent of the students did not attend, according to DVB.
There were several bombs blasts near universities and schools in many regions including on a public bus YBS 30 bus heading to Dagon University in Yangon. But there is no report of injured in those blasts, netizens claimed. According to Mizzima, three bombs exploded near Kandawgyi lake in Yangon’s Bahan Township around 10 pm last night. MMA boxer Phoe Thaw, who was badly injured in the blast near his gym Team PT, has been accused by the military council for improvising the homemade bomb. Family members said he is currently being treated at a military hospital.
