Military tribunals have sentenced 64 people to death since the coup, two of them are minors, according to the NUG's Ministry of Human Rights. All of them are from six townships of Yangon that have been declared under military rule, with up to 34 from North Okkalapa Township. They were not allowed to defend themselves as their right to a lawyer had been denied. Appealing to a higher court is not also possible. Many argued that the junta is trying to incite fear among protesters by sentencing death penalties.

According to Narinjara, AA troops raided a military camp inside a pagoda compound in Kyauktaw Township, Rakhine State, and seized about 20 weapons. This is the first clash between the junta troops and the AA in Rakhine State since the coup.

Nay Than Maung, an American co-founder of Kamaryut Media, who was recently released, told CNN that detainees were being tortured in interrogation camps. He said the junta used several torturing methods to locate the whereabouts of the NLD leaders and activists. Khit Thit reported that two Zeyar Times reporters were arrested by the junta on 26 June in Sagaing city, Sagaing Region.

Khit Thit Media reported that a ward administrator in Dagon Myothit East Township, a military informant in Tamwe Township, and a junta-appointed local administrator in Myingyan Township were assassinated on 27 June. According to DVB, the junta is conducting military training for civilians at the military technological university (DSTA) in Pyin Oo Lwin, Mandalay Region. The notorious Pyusawhti group, formed by pro-junta supporters, has previously called on equipping them with weapons and providing military training.

Two policemen participating in CDM were arrested on 26 June in Gangaw Township, Magway Region, according to DVB. The Kalay PDF released a statement saying that they ambushed three military trucks travelling from Gangtok to Kalemyo today, killing nine members of the junta troops.

804 Covid cases and seven deaths were reported today. The total death toll has risen to 3,297. Many of the cases are from Sagaing and Chin states bordering India. Many schools reopened in the early June have been closed due to the outbreak. According to the Than Lwin Times, more than 100 students and teachers were infected at Mawlamyaing University in Mon State on 26 June, but the school has not been closed.

Rumors have been circulating on social media that the coup leader has not returned from Russia yet. Some claimed that he flew back to Russia for medical treatment as he has diabetes, while others said that the army's deputy leader staged a coup and that family members of the leaders were fleeing. Eyewitnesses also said that security has been tightened around the residents of the junta leaders in Yangon and in Naypyidaw.
