Several Covid cases have been reported in several prisons, including the notorious Insein Prison, where many political prisoners are being held. The NLD Central Committee member U Nyan Win is being treated at the ICU, VOA reported on 15 July. In addition, Phyo Min Thein, who was detained at the Ye Kyi Lake interrogation centre, was taken to Mingaladon Military Hospital on 16 July due to Covid infection, according to Mizzima. Professor Dr Maw Maw Oo and Frontier News Editor Danny Fenster are also suffering Covid. 

The Arakan Army (AA) announced that Colonel Phone Myat died of Covid on 17 July. According to Mratt's Channel, 48 junta troops were infected and two died at the Yangon Region Military Headquarters. 

NUG Health Minister Dr Zaw Wai Soe told Myanmar Now that the NUG is coordinating with international organizations to assist public vaccinations and about 900 CDM medical doctors are providing medical care to the public by telephone under the supervision of the NUG.

A 51-year-old woman was raped and killed by three members of the 88th Division on 14 July in Momauk Township, Kachin State. The junta announced on 17 July that all of them are arrested and it will take action against them. 

On 16 July, the junta sentenced six men arrested in Mandalay on charges of having links with the Arakan Army to 8 to 13 years in prison under the Anti-Terrorism Law. On 16 July, the KNLA 5th Brigade's 102nd Battalion clashed with the junta troops in Hpapun Township, Karen State, killing three members of the junta, according to the Than Lwin Times.

The Chinese embassy in Myanmar announced on 17 July that 3,000 tons of liquid oxygen purchased from China by Myanmar’s organizations has arrived in Mandalay from the border. According to the Popular News Journal, a Myanmar businessman is trying to import 40L oxygen cylinders from China for 82 USD (135,000 Ks). In the market, a Chinese-made 40L oxygen cylinder costs between 400,000 and 500,000 kyats.
