The junta-appointed the Union Election Commission (UEC) announced the termination of the 2020 election results on 26 July. The announcement was strongly opposed by political parties, including the NLD, the Shan Nationalities League for Democracy, and the Arakan National Party, that won several seats in the last election. The current chairman of the commission U Thein Soe also led the 2010 election, which was marred by massive voter fraud. The commission claims that there were more than 11 million instances of fraud in last November’s election.

The CDF-Mindat seized the police outpost in Ma Kwe Im Nu Town, Mindat Township, on July 24 without a single shot being fired, according to Myanmar Now. Capt. Thein Htike, a 55th intake graduate of the Military Academy, and six junta troops surrendered with 22 firearms. On 26 July, the junta announced that the police and army captains had been forced to surrender under false pretences.

Clashes broke out again between the junta and the PDFs in Kani Township on the evening of 26 July. A PDF member told VOA that detained PDF members were tortured to death and they found a total of 12 bodies, including nine that had been exhumed, on the next day.

Prof. Dr. Ma Mar Kyi, a former founder of Fever Clinics during the first and second Covid waves, died on 27 July, her relatives announced on social media. Many other well-known doctors passed away in the third wave.

Mizzima reported that the junta troops crack downed a Mya Taung rally in Mandalay on 27 July, killing at least two protesters and injuring three. Mya Taung rally has been held every day since the coup. An army veteran told the Myanmar Press Agency that the military is facing a shortage of new recruits since the coup and they were instructed that anyone who finished the fourth grades would be eligible to join the military.

The KNLA's 5th Brigade announced that nine small-scale clashes broke out in two days in Papun District, Karen State, killing seven junta troops, including a battalion commander. Asia News reported that Russia has recently delivered Sukhoi Su-30SME fighter jets to the junta.
