As prices of basic foodstuffs are soaring in Yangon, some volunteer groups are selling food items such as rice, oil, eggs, and noodles at prices not exceeding 100 kyats (USD 6 cents). Price of a chicken egg has increased from 100 kyat to 300 kyat in recent weeks, according to the BBC.

The National Unity Government (NUG) announced that it has provided 715.4 million kyats in humanitarian aids to displaced civilians in the conflict areas, including Mindat, Karenni, Kinma, and Kyopyaw. Tens of thousands of Myanmar migrant workers working in the Golden Triangle on the Thai Myanmar Laos border have been stranded on the Lao side since the coup, and only about 30 were allowed to return home on 30 July, the BBC reported.

On 30 July, a protest in Yangon’s Tamwe Township was crack downed and protesters were arrested and beaten by armed plainclothes men, Mizzima reported. At least 10 people were also arrested for participating in Myataung protest in Mandalay. Sai Ye Yint was shot dead after being chased by the junta troops near at his home, his wife told the BBC.

Eight junta troops were killed, and 11 others were injured when a military convoy was bombed on 30 July in Mohnyin Township, Kachin State, Khit Thit Media reported. On the same day, clashes broke out between the Northern Alliance and the joint force of the junta troops and militia in Muse, Shan State.

Fighting resumed near Loikaw, Karenni State, between the junta troops and the Karenni National Army (KNA) and the Karen National Union (KNU) on 31 July, Khit Thit reported. The junta-appointed local administrator and his wife, a non-CDM teacher, were assassinated in Botalin Township, Sagaing Region, on 31 July, according to DVB.
