The junta troops are pursuing and arresting several young people all over Yangon with the information given by a young strike leader who recently disappeared from public view, according to the Myanmar Press Agency. VOM also reports that the junta used a Zello account, a mobile communication software, of an arrested young man to track down his accomplices.
Mizzima reports that Kachin National Congress Party (KNC) Chairman Dr M. Kawn La, also a founder of the Kachin People's Political Front (KPPF) after the coup, was arrested in Naypyidaw. The reason for the arrest is still unknown.
Capt. Lin Htet Aung wrote on his social media page that three Majors had joined the CDM. Their names and other details have not been released for security reasons. Mizzima reports that the Yinmarpin PDF arrested a police officer from Monywa No. 2 Police Station in Sagaing Region for pretending to be a CDM participant.
The Yangon Revolution Group (YRG) claimed the responsibility for the assassination of Ye Gyi, a reporter of the junta-controlled Mirror Newspaper and a party member of the USDP, on the evening of 26 August in Yangon’s Yuzana Garden City. The Irrawaddy reports that the junta troops convoy which had raided a village in Ayeyardaw Township, Sagaing Region, was struck by landmine, killing some members.
The KNLA's 6th Brigade seized an outpost in Kyaikdon Township, Kayin State, according to Thoolei News. The BGF troops stationing at the outpost withdrew without fighting back. The CDF-Hakha and CDF-Zophei coalition forces clashed with the junta troops on 25 August, killing at least three junta troops, according to the CDF. The Thantlang Times reports that a shooting took place in Thantlang Town on 25 August and a 10-year-old boy at home was shot dead and several injured by the police.
"We are working on two ways – cross-border and third party – to vaccinate people," said Padoh Mann Mann, chairman of the National Health Committee, at a NUG press conference on 24 August. One way is the ethnic armed organizations accessing the vaccines through the border and the UN taking in charge of the vaccines arriving at Yangon airport.
