On 29 October, in Thantlang town, Chin State, more than 100 houses and shops, including two churches, have been burned down by the junta’s heavy artillery, according to the Chinland Post. Shelling began after the CDF-Thantlang opened fire on a member of the junta who was breaking into abandoned houses. Fire spread quickly as there is no resident left in the town to put out the fire. 

A special court in Naypyidaw has sentenced U Win Htein, an 80-year-old patron of the NLD party, to 20 years in prison for treason under Section 124 of the Penal Code, according to Mizzima. A well-known LGBT writer Saw Han Nwe Oo told Khit Thit Media that she was blindfolded, beaten, cut, burn by boiling water, and sexually assaulted during interrogation in Mandalay. 

On 27 October, in Kawlain Township, Sagaing Region, a local PDF ambushed junta troops, killing about 40 members including a major from the 10th LIB of the 88th Division, according to the NUG's Ministry of Defense. The Kawlin Revolution-KR said on its social media account that they lost three members in an attack that killed about 25 junta troops in Kawlin Township, Sagaing Region, on 28 October. 

The junta has reportedly launched a special operation called Alaungpaya in Sagaing Region and used military helicopters to transport troops to the battlefield as its convoys are constantly attacked by local PDFs in Sagaing and Magway. On 26 October, more than 150 junta troops raided villages in Minkin Township, Sagaing Region, forcing many residents to flee at night.

Khit Thit reports that a series of bomb blasts took place on 28 October at at least eight Kanbawza Bank and ATM machines in Mandalay. Bank robberies are also rampant in major cities. According to a leaked junta directive, the coup leader has ordered police and the military to tighten security in the cities and to give award for assassinated civil servants and local administrators.

The White House and NUG report that US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and NUG met online on 25 October, a day before the ASEAN Summit. During the meeting, he expressed concern over the brutal violence of the Burmese military and said "the U.S. will continue to promote accountability for the coup", the White House said in a statement. Netizens have spoken out in support of ASEAN leaders who openly criticized the junta's actions at the ASEAN Summit.
