The junta is preparing to launch a major offensive in Sagaing, Magway and Chin in the second week of October, according to the Modern News. The report states that about 2,000 troops, including several armoured vehicles, are reportedly being relocated for the operation, which will be overseen by the current Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Lt. Gen. Than Hlaing.
A total of 406 people accused of being dalan (junta's informants) has been killed and 285 wounded across the country, with 2,460 bombing incidents in 372 townships, according to the junta’s announcement. The KNU said that 24 junta troops were killed and 30 others, including two battalion commanders, were injured in the clashes on 30 September. A source close to the junta told Than Lwin Times that the junta is recruiting locals for about 180,000 kyat per month due to very low enrolment in its basic military training.
The NUG's Ministry of Humanitarian and Disaster Management announced that a total of 1.35 billion kyat in humanitarian aids have been allocated across the country between 16 April and 20 September. According to the UNOCHA, the number of displaced civilians after the coup is 63,000 in Sagaing, more than 12,000 in Magway, about 12,000 in Chin State, and around 142,000 in the Karenni (Kayah).
The Chin Human Rights Organization reports that the junta troops took 10 lakh kyats from two civilians who were killed at the entrance of Thantlang town in Chin State. A KNDF member told Myanmar Now that the junta's troops coming from Shan State withdrew near Loikaw, Karenni State, after being ambushed by the local joint forces.
On 4 October, a convoy of about 80 vehicles, including armoured vehicles, were hit by a powerful landmine explosion in Pale Township, Sagaing, destroying five trucks and killing several, according to the Pale PDF’s statement. The Free Tiger Ranger carried out bomb attack at the Denko and Golden Delta offices near the Shwelinpan Industrial Zone in Hlaingthayar Township, Yangon, saying that they would again attack businesses linked to the junta’s leaders.
The NUG announced the opening of the Representative Office in the Czech Republic. The NUG also has offices in Australia and South Korean. The Straight Times reports that the junta does not promise whether the ASEAN special envoy to Myanmar will be allowed to meet with Aung San Suu Kyi. Another 4 million doses of Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine from China arrived in Yangon on 2 October, according to popular news. Myanmar has received 20.6 million doses of vaccines from China, of which 3.9 million are donated by China.
Myanmar nationals in Japan protested the Japanese government after Japan approved the junta’s replacement of two CDM Myanmar embassy officials in Tokyo, according to DVB. Mizzima reports that a confidential letter has been circulated among ASEAN member states calling for the temporary suspension of Myanmar’s membership as the junta has not yet implemented the ASEAN five-point consensus.
