Children in war zones are suffering from severe food shortages and malnutrition. In Mindat, Chin State, more than 10,000 villagers and those in the IDP camps are facing hunger as the junta troops block food and medicines supplies. In Mindat, about 30 people, including children, have died in the past five months while fleeing the war due to malnutrition, infection and other preventable diseases, humanitarian workers told Mizzima. 

According to Save the Children, more than 76,000 of the 206,000 people displaced by the armed conflict since the coup are children. The United Nations Special Rapporteur has warned that 79,000 IDPs, including 29,000 children, in Kayah (Karenni) State are facing life-threatening food insecurity.

A parcel bomb exploded at the Crime Investigation Department (CID) headquarters in Naypyidaw on 5 October, injuring four policemen, including Police Lt-Col, according to Myanmar Now. On the same day, a transport vehicle belonging to the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population was also bombed in Naypyidaw.

The Northwestern regional commander Brigadier General Phyo Thant was reportedly died during interrogation, a source close to his family told DVB. He was arrested by the junta on charges of mismanagement as the military is facing heavy casualties and losing territories to local defense forces and ethnic armed organizations in Chin, Sagaing, and Magway regions. Khit Thit reports that G-1 level Lieutenant Colonel Kyaw Swa Myo of the Kawkareik-based 12 Military Operations Command (MOC) died from injuries sustained during an ambush of the DKBA splinter group in Karen State on 1 October.

On 4 October, 12 junta-appointed village administrators in Katha Township, Sagaing Region, resigned simultaneously for security concerns, and another 30 are preparing to resign, Khit Thit reported. Htee Chaing PDF in Sagaing Region told Khit Thit that there are 20 defected police with them, and they warned all the local administrators to resign immediately. 39 out of 89 local administrators in Yezakyo Township, Magway Region, have resigned and the rest are in hiding, according to the Irrawaddy. Similarly, Khayan Channel reports that a group of 20 local administrators in Yangon's Khayan Township informed the junta about their resignation.

In addition to the Section 505 (a) of the Penal Code, a detained American journalist Danny Fenster has been charged under Unlawful Association Act, the Burma Associated Press reported. He was reportedly infected with COVID-19 in prison and had not been vaccinated. More than 5,000 Myanmar nationals have been detained for entering Thailand illegally in the past two months, according to Ye Min, who is helping Myanmar migrant workers in Thailand.
