On November 16, the junta troops raided a camp of PDF-Kalay Battalion 3 in Kalay Township, Sagaing Region, and arrested nine Chin women who are the members of the PDF medical team, according to Zalen. The PDF-Kalay said three of their members, one woman and two men, were also killed during the raid. Fighting has intensified to this day as joint forces of the Local Defense Forces have been chasing and attacking the junta troops to secure their release.
The junta announced on 17 November that it had arrested 39 PDF members and eight PDF supporters in Yangon who are responsible for the multiple attacks and bombings during 12-17 November. However, only about 20 of those arrested are the PDF members and others are not, NUG's Yangon Regional Military Command told Myanmar now. The junta also announced that Phyo Zayar Thaw, a member of the National League for Democracy (NLD) Central Committee, was arrested in Yangon on 18 November in connection with the multiple arrests made earlier. The junta has accused him of supplying weapons and leading the PDF's operations in Yangon.
The news of sixteen family members of the junta troops from Monywa-based Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) donated 500,000 kyats to the Monywa People's Defense Force (MPDF) have shocked many. A member of the MPDF told Myanmar Now that these donars asked them to release the statement about their donation. 362 military-owned Mytel towers were destroyed by local defense forces between September and October, according to a junta’s letter to the diplomatic community. The total cost of the damage is estimated at $ 1.5 million.
The first press conference of the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) was held on 16 November. The current NUCC is made up of 56 representatives from 28 organizations, the federal charter is being reviewed for the second time, and the People's Congress will be held in December, NUCC officials said.
The SSPP told Shan News that it would release 13 prisoners of war during the fighting between the SSPP/SSA and the RCSS/SSA in northern Shan State. Irrawaddy reports that the junta is launching a major offensive against local defense forces in Saw areas, Magway region, resulting in heavy casualties on both sides. The junta has also been using more than one helicopter gunships.
