Delegates of the Kachin Peace-Talk Creation Group (PCG) and the Kachin Baptist Convention (KBC) met with the junta in Naypyidaw on 1 November, a PCG spokesman told the BBC. These two organizations are known for mediating between the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) and the military.

The CDF-Mindat announces that three soldiers were killed in an ambush in Mindat on 31 October in retaliation for the fire in Thantlang, Chin State, that destroyed about 164 houses, including two churches. Omni Focus public transport bus, owned by the son of former dictator General Ne Win, was also set on fire in retaliation for the Thantlang incident, a member of local defence group told Kamaryut Information.

The KIO, AA, MNDAA and TNLA, members of the Northern Alliance, announced that they condemned the action of junta troop in Thantlang and expressed their condolences to the Chin people. Dr. Lian Hmung Sakhong, NUG’s Union Minister for Federal Affairs, said on his social media page that the burning and destruction of houses in Thantlang and Mindat are the result of the junta’s genocidal act against the Chin people. However, the junta announced that the burning of houses in Thantlang was caused by CDFs themselves to blame the military.

As of 29 October, about 17 local administrators in Patheingyi Township, Mandalay region, resigned from their positions due to pressure from the local defense groups, according to Irrawaddy. On 1 November, the coup leader met with some celebrities and social influencers in Yangon and provided them with food supplies and 400 million kyats, according to DVB. Netizens have criticized them for attending the meeting, saying that the junta was using celebrities to influence the public. Some pro-junta people also criticized the coup leader on social media for using a lot of money for PR stunt while many of his troop are poorly funded and are dying in battlefields.

The Dragon Kyaukse Defense Force (DKDF) declared that their members assassinated a village administrator in Kyaukse Township, Mandalay, on 1 November. In Thanlyin Township, Yangon, two people, including a leader of Pyu Saw Htee group were killed in an armed attack and four family members of a militia leader were killed in a house fire in Tanintharyi region, Khit Thit reported.

On 1 November, family members of junta troop held a rally in support of the junta in Sittwe, Rakhine State, according to Western News. Despite the junta’s order not to hold rallies or assembly more than five people due to the COVID, pro-junta protests are taking place in some parts of the country. Fighting broke out between the Rohingya group ARSA and the junta’s Border Guard Force on 31 October in Maungdaw Township, Rakhine State, according to Development Media Group.

Former United States ambassador to the United Nations Bill Richardson, who has a long history of supporting democratic movement of Myanmar, is in Myanmar and met with the coup leader in Naypyidaw on 2 November, the junta announced. A junta spokesman told the BBC that he was meeting with the junta to discuss pathways for the humanitarian delivery of COVID-19 vaccines and other humanitarian aids.
