Local Defense Forces told DVB that the junta is using helicopters to reinforce its forces and attack on defense forces in the upper Sagaing region. Hundreds of troops have been reportedly deployed in Kawlin, Wuntho, and Pinlebu townships, and more than 30 military vehicles have been sent to Yaw area in Magway Region.
On 7 November, Khit Thit reported that 122 junta troops across the country were killed in attacks by local defense forces and ethnic armed organizations. Khit Thit reports that a KIA and KPDF bomb attacks in Katha township on 9 November killed 40 junta troops, including a major.
The Arakan Army spokesperson confirmed to Narinjara that the fighting broke out for the first time in almost a year in northern Maungdaw Township, Rakhine State, as junta troops entered its controlled area on 9 November. Heavy artillery was used during the fighting, killing and wounding junta troops. However, a spokesperson for the junta told RFA that the fighting took place with the ARSA, Rohingya armed group.
According to the Kokang, the MNDAA has ordered the withdrawal of three of its bases to ease military tensions in the Kokang region of northern Shan State. The MNDAA called on the junta to resolve conflict in political means, prevent the spread of COVID-19, and reduce bloodshed on both sides.
More than 300 civil servants resigned between 4 and 7 November after the Htee Lin People's Defense Force issued a warning letter in Hteelin township, Magway Region, according to their social media page. A 62-year-old woman was raped by a junta troop in Kutkai Township, northern Shan State, on 7 November, locals told Mizzima, but the military has not yet taken any action against its soldier.
There was speculation that ex-general and former Minister of Information, Ye Htut, was arrested on 10 November for criticizing the junta leader on social media, but he later denied the allegations on his social media page. In Heini Township, northern Shan State, Theinni PDF claimed that it had shot down a junta’s fighter jet on its social media page on the night of 9 November but corrected that it was a misinformation.
The UN aid chief, Martin Graffiths, has warned that over 3 million people in Myanmar need emergency humanitarian assistance. Conflict after the coup resulted in hundreds of thousands of displaced civilians in Chin, Magway, Sagaing and Kayah states. According to the Than Lwin Times, Thai security forces arrested 218 illegal Myanmar migrant workers on 9 November near the Thai-Burmese border. They paid the brokers 25,000 to 26,000 baht per person for travel expenses.
American journalist Danny Fenster has additionally been charged under the Counter-Terrorism Act and sedition, which carry a maximum sentence of life in prison.
