As of 25 November, the junta has cordoned off houses of 55 NLD lawmakers and party supporters, according to the NLD Central Working Committee’s statement. It also said that houses of many other NLD members were raided and their properties were taken away or destroyed.
The Naypyidaw Special Court has delayed the first verdicts in the trial of State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi and President Win Myint, who were charged under Section 25 of the Natural Disaster Management Law and Section 505 (b). It was scheduled to be sentenced on 30 November, but postponed to 6 December, according to the BBC. The reason for the deferral is still unknown.
According to RFA report, there are at least 10 rapes committed by the junta troops since the coup. The report said that there could be many more unreported cases due to threats imposed by the junta troops. In addition, a junta’s internal letter describing five rape cases and affairs, which involved up to the rank of major, within the army has been circulating on social media.
A member of the Kalay PDF confirmed to Burma VJ that the junta had sent nine female medics from the 3rd PDF-Kalay Battalion arrested on 16 November to Kalay Prison. Many have shown great concern over their lives and the risk of sexual violence after their arrest. On the evening of 27 November, a second major fire broke out in Thantlang, Chin State. The Thantlang Township Resettlement Committee said 96 residents, including Saint Nicolas Catholic Church, were destroyed in the blaze. A CNF official told DVB that the junta troops are intentionally buring down the houses to clear view from their base. Nine fires broke out in Thantlang between 9 September and 27 November, destroying more than 300 residents, including religious buildings.
At a press conference in Naypyidaw on 26 November, the junta’s spokesperson claimed that multiples clashes broke out between their troops and the MNDAA in northern Shan state in October and November, with the MNDAA using about 200,000 bullets, more than 5,300 RPG and forty 107 mm artillery rockets during the fighting.
Locals told Mizzima that the junta used up to five helicopters to attack local defence forces on 27 November in Depayin Township, Sagaing Region. The junta is carrying out large-scale airstrikes and deployment via air due to ambushes and bomb attacks by the local PDF. In Gangaw Township, Magway Region, the junta troops arrested 18 villagers on 27 November and killed six of them, a local told Khit Thit. Khit Thit also reports that unidentified gunmen shot dead Win Thein, chairperson and candidate of the USDP party, on 30 November in Pinlebu Township, Sagaing Region.
Prisoners of war released by the Arakan Army have been recaptured by the junta and imprisoned in the army, according to Capt. Zin Yaw, who joined the CDM. Fifteen detained soldiers and police were released on 15 November on humanitarian grounds, the AA said. AA leader Tun Myat Naing told CNI News that despite a temporary ceasefire between the junta and the AA, it is less likely to reach biliteral ceasefire agreement between them due to the current political situation in the country.
